Cranes that drive to your site

Mobile cranes travel on their own wheels, set up on outriggers and are lifting within a short time of arrival — which makes them the workhorse for most commercial and industrial lifts around Lubbock.

Hydraulic truck cranes

Road-going cranes, typically in the 30–100+ ton class, for steel, precast, tanks and general construction lifts.

All-terrain cranes

Multi-axle cranes that combine highway travel with off-road ability, from roughly 40 tons to well over 1,000 tons for heavy industrial and wind work.

Rough-terrain cranes

Big-tire, four-wheel-drive cranes for unpaved pads and soft ground — common on oil field and agricultural sites. They are usually hauled to site.

Planning a mobile crane lift

Mobile cranes need a level, firm area for the outriggers and room to swing. Before the crane arrives, check ground conditions (recent rain softens caliche and dirt pads), overhead lines and access for support trucks carrying counterweight. Your matched provider will usually ask about these when quoting.

Typical published rates with operator: small cranes about $245–$315/hour, mid-size $320–$535/hour, large $415–$1,350+/hour (source) — national estimates, not Lubbock quotes.

FAQ

Common questions

What's the difference between a truck crane and an all-terrain crane?

A truck crane is built for paved roads and prepared sites. An all-terrain crane has multiple steering axles and suspension that let it travel on highways and also work on rougher ground, and it is usually available in much larger capacities.

Do mobile cranes need permits?

Large cranes often need oversize/overweight permits to travel, and some sites need street-use or city permits. Providers commonly handle travel permits; confirm who handles site permits.

How much does crane rental cost in Lubbock?

Prices depend on crane size, hours, travel and rigging. As a typical national estimate, published rate sheets reviewed by RiggingForce range from about $155/hour for a 23-ton boom truck to about $595/hour for a 275-ton mobile crane, with operator (source). Another published guide puts small cranes around $245–$315/hour, mid-size $320–$535/hour and large cranes $415–$1,350+/hour (source). Lubbock prices vary — the matched provider gives you the actual quote.

What size crane do I need?

It depends on the load weight, how far the crane must reach (radius) and how high it lifts. A crane's rated capacity falls quickly as the radius grows, so a "50-ton" crane may lift far less at distance. Share the weight, distance and height in your request — see the tonnage guide for a starting point.

Who do I pay and who is responsible for the job?

Lubbock Crane Rental connects you with independent, licensed and insured local crane operators. We are a free referral service, not a crane company: we do not own or operate cranes. The crane company you're matched with performs the work and contracts with you directly. Your agreement, pricing, scheduling, insurance and liability are between you and that company.
