Crane rental questions
Price figures below are typical published estimates, not quotes.
How much does crane rental cost in Lubbock?
Prices depend on crane size, hours, travel and rigging. As a typical national estimate, published rate sheets reviewed by RiggingForce range from about $155/hour for a 23-ton boom truck to about $595/hour for a 275-ton mobile crane, with operator (source). Another published guide puts small cranes around $245–$315/hour, mid-size $320–$535/hour and large cranes $415–$1,350+/hour (source). Lubbock prices vary — the matched provider gives you the actual quote.
Is there a minimum charge?
Many crane companies bill a minimum call-out (commonly several hours) plus travel or mobilization, and some add charges for permits, rigging crews or overtime. Ask the provider to itemize these in your quote.
What's the difference between operated and bare rental?
An operated ("maintained & operated") rental includes a certified operator and the provider handles the machine. A bare rental is the crane only — your company supplies certified operators, insurance and lift planning. Most one-off lifts are booked operated.
What size crane do I need?
It depends on the load weight, how far the crane must reach (radius) and how high it lifts. A crane's rated capacity falls quickly as the radius grows, so a "50-ton" crane may lift far less at distance. Share the weight, distance and height in your request — see the tonnage guide for a starting point.
Are the crane operators certified?
Federal OSHA rules require construction crane operators to be trained, certified by an accredited organization (such as NCCCO) and evaluated (29 CFR 1926.1427), and cranes to get an annual inspection (1926.1412). We only refer requests to licensed and insured providers; ask yours for operator certifications and a certificate of insurance.
Who do I pay and who is responsible for the job?
Lubbock Crane Rental connects you with independent, licensed and insured local crane operators. We are a free referral service, not a crane company: we do not own or operate cranes. The crane company you're matched with performs the work and contracts with you directly. Your agreement, pricing, scheduling, insurance and liability are between you and that company.
How fast can I get a crane?
Many providers can schedule smaller lifts within days, and some handle urgent requests. Availability depends on the season and the crane size — put your date in the form and mention if it's urgent.
Is this service really free?
Yes. There is no charge to you for submitting a request or being matched. You only pay the crane company if you choose to hire them.
